Overcoming Learning Loss by Teaching for Deeper Learning

March 16 @ 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm EDT

All across the country, schools are focused on addressing learning loss and fostering learning recovery. We know that covering the content by teaching faster than students can learn will not work. In fact, the “teach-more-content-faster” approach will only compound the problem by promoting superficial learning and overwhelming students.

In this webinar, Senior Director of Content Development, Matthew Perini, will explain how schools are accelerating learning recovery by making two critical shifts that promote deep learning for all students:

  1. Moving from covering the content to framing learning around big ideas and core concepts.
  2. Moving from “teacher talk” to actively engaging students in making meaning of the content.

Matthew will also introduce the Teaching for Deeper Learning Online Professional Learning Suite—a new on-demand resource designed to help all schools make these critical shifts. This powerful new resource is based on the work of education experts Jay McTighe and Harvey Silver, whose best-selling Teaching for Deeper Learning was recently named one of the 100 Best Teaching Books of All Time by Book Authority.
